It was Great to see the members and visitors all enjoying a fantastic day, Thanks to Carl for Providing a Full Breakfast for all participants and Leanne and the team in the Clubhouse for keeping everyone hydrated. Thanks to Jon and the Staff in the Professional shop for Organising the Day, and as always to Graeme for all his input.
Also a massive thanks to the Greenstaff, the course is in excellent condition and the feedback was very positive.

Hemingway Cup

It is a Mixed foursomes medal with a draw for partners. It is open to members in FULL membership categories (as defined in Appendix A ) that have submitted a minimum of 6 Acceptable Scores (including 3 in competitions) in the last 12 months.
- Men and Ladies enter in pairs
- Single players may enter on a reserve list and will be paired up before the draw on a first come first served basis. In the event of a withdrawal after the draw, the first-named will be taken from any names remaining on the reserve list. If there are no players on the reserve list the Committee may arrange an alternative player.
How to Enter
- Mixed Pairs
Select the competition called "Hemingway Cup: Mixed Pairs entry" and fill in the first available spaces between 12:00 and 13:00 - Individuals
Select the competition called "Hemingway Cup: Individual entry" and fill in the first available space between 13:20 and 14:00
Entry closes at Midday on Sunday 2nd July after which there will be a draw for pairs and starting times.
Terms of Competition
Mixed foursomes medal. Ladies play from the Red tees on the odd numbered holes. Men play from the White tees on the even numbered holes. The 10th hole is played as a par 4.
Handicap Allowance is 50% of combined Course Handicaps with an adjustment for play from different tees in accordance with Appendix N7 rounded to the nearest whole number as shown in this look-up table.
Prizes of commemorative glassware for the 1st and 2nd pairs. Subject to having a sufficient number of entrants to cover costs, additional prizes may be awarded.
Captains' Texas Scramble
Entry is free and includes food after the round - cold meat baguettes with potato salad, coleslaw, pasta salad, etc.
- The competition is a Texas Scramble Medal, teams of 4, with a shotgun start at 1:00pm. The entry sheet is in the Spike Bar
- Play the 10th hole as a par 3
- Minimum of 3 tee shots required from each player (4 for short-handed teams)
- Place your ball within 12 inches in in areas cut to fairway height or less
Place within 6 inches on Greens
Drop within 1 club length elsewhere
Handicaps
- Handicap allowances from lowest to highest handicap are 25%, 20%, 15% and 10% of Course Handicap.
- Short-handed teams receive extra strokes equivalent to having a ghost player with a Course Handicap of 20.
- Ladies receive an extra 0.53 strokes in the calculation of Playing Handicap, equivalent to the difference in Course Ratings (72.4 -70.3) divided by the number of players in the team.

- Scroll down to where it says Texas Scramble Tees and select Men: White Alt from the drop-down list
- Enter each player's Handicap Index from lowest to highest to display your Total Team Handicap in the table below (for a ghost player enter 18)
Handicaps Calculator 2 (Any Team)
If you have Excel on your device, click to open the Mapperley Handicap calculator file, then proceed as follows:
- Click the Download button
- Click the Enable Editing button
- In Table 2 enter each player's Handicap Index from lowest to highest and select the appropriate gender from the drop-down lists
- The Team Playing Handicap is shown in Table 5
Competitions open to all members with a handicap (including 6 day members)
Entry is free:
Men: 18 hole stableford
- Enter the draw in the Pro Shop
- Play from white tees on 1st hole, yellow on the 2nd, red on the 3rd and repeat for the remaining holes
- Non-qualifier using Yellow Course Handicaps
- Enter scores at PSI screen as normal
Ladies: 9 hole stableford
- Non qualifier
- Tee times from 4:00pm to 4:30pm
- Play from white tees on 1st hole, yellow on the 2nd, red on the 3rd and repeat for the remaining holes
- Use 18 hole Yellow handicap chart and 18 hole stroke indexes
There will be sandwiches and cakes in the halfway house, with a raffle in aid of the Captains' Charity, Trent Dementia
The Captains and Vice-Captains look forward to greeting you all with a drink at the back of the 18th green after the round!
There will be evening entertainment and Presentation, prizes will be pick of the table for people in attendance
