Mens Welcome

A Warm Welcome from the Captain

Welcome to Mapperley golf club, where both members and visitors alike share in the love of the game. As your new captain, I extend a warm welcome to all who walk our fairways.

Despite the challenges posed by extensive rainfall and shifting weather patterns, our dedication to golf and community remains unwavering. Whether you're a long-time member or a first-time visitor, we invite you to join us in embracing sustainability, innovation, and unity as we navigate these challenges together.

As your captain, I am dedicated to leading our club with vision and purpose, ensuring that we not only weather the storms but emerge stronger and more united than ever before. Together, let us embrace the spirit of stewardship and collaboration, knowing that our collective efforts will safeguard the legacy of our club for generations to come.

Lets tee off on a journey of resilience and camaraderie, ensuring that every round played leaves lasting memories.

The Ladies Captain, Mandy Papworth, and myself have chosen When You Wish Upon A Star as our charity this year.

Welcome to the Mens Section

We have a friendly and active Mens Section and we run a wide selection of club competitions and team matches against other local clubs, not to mention  Social Events too. If you wish to join us and learn to play golf, Mapperley Golf Club is the place to start.

We look forward to seeing you on the golf course.

Club Competitions

We have competitions every Saturday in the summer season and team competitions throughout the winter. Summer competitions are 'drawn', with members putting their names down in hourly time slots, so it is easy for a new member to get a game and feel part of the Club. 'Open to all' competitions are also held on some Sundays and most Thursdays throughout the season, providing another opportunity to get the handicap into shape! See the Mens Competition Diary for a list of forthcoming competitions.

Team Matches

We have two club teams, the Scratch (First) team and the Second Team, a more social team playing against other local clubs in the Summer League and in friendly fixtures. We also enter teams for the NUGC Mens and Mixed Inter-club knockout competitions. See the Mens Match Diary for a list of forthcoming matches.

Club Knockouts

We have Mens Singles, Mens Foursomes and Mixed Foursomes knockout competitions through the summer culminating on Finals Day in September.  See Mens Knockouts for more details.
