1. Eligibility


1.1. Full Membership Categories

Members in the Full Membership categories listed in  Appendix A with a valid Handicap Index are eligible to play in the following on days appropriate to their membership category and gender:

  • Stroke play competitions including Major Competitions [1] [2] [3]

  • Major Match play knockout competitions [1] [4]

  • League and Inter-club matches organised by the Nottinghamshire County Associations (NUGC/NCLGA)

  • Other team matches, e.g. Mens, Ladies, Seniors & Mixed friendlies, Taskers, Mens Summer League, Ladies Winter League

1.2. Associate Membership Categories

Members in the Associate Membership categories listed in Appendix A with a valid Handicap Index are eligible to play in the following on days appropriate to their membership category and gender:

  • Stroke play competitions that are not Major Competitions [1]

  • Student, Flexible and Summer members may enter Major stroke play competitions and win prizes, but are not eligible to win the Major trophy [1] [2] [3]

  • Student and Flexible members may play in Team matches against other clubs [5]


[1] Major stroke play and match play competitions are listed in Appendix B (Men), Appendix C (Ladies) and Appendix D (Seniors).

[2] Eligibility to win the trophy in Major stroke play competitions is subject to being in a Full membership category and having submitted at least 6 Acceptable Scores [6] (including a minimum of 3 in Competitions) in the 12 months [7] before the date of the competition.

[3] In Pairs and Team Major stroke play competitions that are subject to a draw for pairs/teams, members that are not eligible to win the trophy will be paired/teamed up together.

[4] Entry to Major Match Play knockout competitions is subject to having submitted at least 6 Acceptable Scores [6] (including a minimum of 3 in Competition play) in the 12 months [7] before the date of playing the first match in the competition.

[5] When playing in home team matches, Flexible members are responsible for ensuring that their name is added to the BRS timesheet and that the applicable points for an 18 hole round are deducted. To assist with this Team Captains/Match Organisers are asked to ensure that the names of all home team players are added to the timesheet.

[6] Acceptable Score is defined as a score from an authorized format of play which meets all the provisions set out within Rule 2 of the Rules of Handicapping. Refer to Appendix J for further information. Scores submitted for initial handicap allocation do not count towards the 6 Acceptable Scores within the previous 12 months.

[7] Consideration of an extension to the 12 month period for counting Acceptable Scores will be given for members who have been unable to play for 6 months or more due to injury, illness or on medical grounds. This will be on an individual basis and subject to approval of the Competitions Committee. The extension would be based on the length of time the member has not been able to play, up to a maximum of an additional 12 months.


Note:

  • The paying of a green fee does not entitle a member to enter a competition on a day not included in their membership category. Such members may pay a green fee (at Members Guest rate) to play casual golf on days not included in their membership category.

  • 9 hole (aged 75+) members wishing to play more than 9 holes may do so subject to paying a full 9 hole green fee, irrespective of the number of extra holes played. This includes play in Stroke Play competitions that are not Major competitions.

  • Entry to competitions subsidised by the Senior Section (Outings, Senior Captains Day, etc.), entry to the Seniors Match Play Knockout and eligibility to win the trophy in the Seniors Major Stroke Play Competitions listed in Appendix D are also subject to having played in 5 Seniors competitions in the 12 months before the competition.
