Captains' Charity Day: Sunday 30th July

Sunday 30th July is Captains' Charity Day, raising funds for Trent Dementia:

  • To start the day we have a Texas Shamble Stableford competition (see details below)
  • The cost of entry is £10 per person and this includes a Barbeque and Raffle Tickets.
  • Book your tee time in BRS; tee times from 07:40 to 13:00.

For the children we have a fire engine arriving at approx 2:30pm with firemen on hand to show you around and also music and games outside.

Music will be played all afternoon with live music at 6:00pm followed by the auction with some fantastic lots including a signed Notts County shirt to be presented by Kyle Cameron to the highest bidder.

We're practicing the sun dance daily and hoping for the good weather. We would like to host the day outside and welcome you all to bring picnic blankets/fold up chairs to sit on and bring along your family and friends for a fun day.

Anyone not playing in the competition can purchase a food ticket in advance from the bar for £5 per person. We need to know in advance how many tickets you require to enable us to have the correct numbers for the catering.

Finally, any donations for the raffle or auction would be very much appreciated.

We hope to see you and your family to enjoy a fabulous day with us.

Michael, Leanne, Ian
Your Captains

How to play a Texas Shamble

  • All play from the teeing area on each hole and one of the tee shots is selected
  • All play their second shots from that spot and then continue playing their own ball in AM-AM  format, best 2 scores from 4 to count on each hole
  • For the 2nd shot: place within 12 inches of the chosen tee shot on fairways, place within 6 inches on greens and drop within 1 club length elsewhere
  • A minimum number of 4 tee shots from each team member are required
  • All play the 10th as a par 3
  • The Handicap Allowance is 85%
  • Men receive an additional 2 strokes to account for the difference in Pars and Course Ratings between the 2 sets of tees **

** Note: for information

It is expected that multi-tee handicap adjustments will not be required from next year when the Rules of Handicapping are updated. Any adjustments will be factored into the calculation of Course Handicap (as is already the case for 9 hole rounds). One benefit of this is that 36 points will always equate to playing to handicap, irrespective of which tees are used.
