Seniors Welcome

A Warm Welcome from the Seniors Captain

It is an honour and privilege to be your Captain this year.  I have been a member of the club for  some six years.  In my first playing year the Captain became known as Captain Cancel.  I hope for a drier year in which we can play enjoyable mainly team games.

Our section was established for seniors to enjoy sociable golf.  Despite the disruptions of Covid and more recently the WHS system, I feel confident that we can work within WHS and continue with our enjoyable sociable golf.  With this in mind, I would like to introduce a few different golf formats and welcome any suggestions.  Our section is about everyone enjoying the game.  Let’s all make an effort to achieve this.

My chosen charity is the Lullaby Trust which provides support to parents who have lost a child through Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (often known as cot death). They also support research into this condition which has contributed to an 80% drop in deaths over the years.

We lost our 6 week old son 45 years ago with cot death so it is a charity close to my heart.

Finally, I hope to play with as many Seniors as possible throughout the year both in matches and Wednesday competitions.

The annual subscription is £10. Competition entry is £2 for Trophy comps and £1 for other competitions.

Competitions

For most competitions just roll up and register at the desk in the clubhouse on a Wednesday morning. Most players arrive between 7:30 and 8:00 and groups are made up in order of arrival. For team trophy competitions entry is done in advance through an entry sheet on the noticeboard and there is a draw for tee times.
