There are so many deserving charities out there, but I thought it was important to select a charity which was relevant to my most recent and ongoing experience with my wife. Following a routine mammogram at the end of July this year, my wife was given a recall, resulting in a biopsy. The consultant subsequently informed us that my wife had a cancerous lump which would need removing. Thankfully, her lymph nodes were clear. The operation duly took place at the end of August
After the operation, several weeks later, she embarked on a daily three-week course of radiotherapy at Nottingham City Hospital. This has now been completed and she is on the road to recovery. How fortunate we are to have such a superb facility on the doorstep.
Throughout the process, I have been so impressed by the care and attention afforded to my wife through the National Health Service. At the same time, I never realised the magnitude of the condition among ladies of all ages.
On Wednesday Seniors' competition days and matches against other clubs, the Senior Captain's charity box will be available for donations. In addition to this, I would be grateful for a 50p donation if you are unfortunate enough to go in any of the bunkers on the 4th hole......up to a maximum of two! The selection of charity bunker/s will be reviewed during the year.
Thank you for your support.
