3.3. Mixed & Multi-tee Competitions

To provide equity when competitors play from 2 or more sets of tees, the Playing Handicaps of some competitors are adjusted as shown in the examples below and summarised in Appendix N.

18 hole: Medal, Gross Score (Scratch) & Maximum Score

Ladies playing from red tees receive additional strokes equal to the difference in Course Ratings:

Playing H’cap  =  [ Course H’cap   X   H’cap Allowance ]  +  Difference in Course Ratings

18 hole: Texas Scramble

The Extra Strokes shown in the table above for each player are divided by the number of players in the team. For example, with men playing from Yellow tees, the Playing Handicap of a team of 4 ladies with Course Handicaps of 10, 20, 24 and 30 is calculated as:

Player A           (10  x  25%)  +  (3.3 / 4)           =  2.5  +  0.83   =  3.33

Player B           (20  x  20%)  +  (3.3 / 4)           =  4.0  +  0.83   =  4.83

Player C           (24  x  15%)  +  (3.3 / 4)           =  3.6  +  0.83   =  4.43

Player D           (30  x  10%)  +  (3.3 / 4)           =  3.0  +  0.83   =  3.83

                                                                                        TOTAL =  16.4

9 hole: Medal, Gross Score (Scratch) & Maximum Score

Ladies playing from red tees receive additional strokes equal to the difference in Pars:

Playing H’cap  =  [ Course H’cap  X  H’cap Allowance ]  +  Difference in Pars

9 hole: Texas Scramble

The Extra Strokes for each player shown in the table above are divided by the number of players in the team. For example, when playing the front 9, the Playing Handicap of a team of 4 ladies with Course Handicaps of 5, 10, 12 and 15 would be calculated as:

Player A           (5   x  25%)   +  (1 / 4)              =  1.25  +  0.25 =  1.50

Player B           (10  x  20%)  +  (1 / 4)              =  2.00  +  0.25 =  2.25

Player C           (12  x  15%)  +  (1 / 4)              =  1.80  +  0.25 =  2.05

Player D           (15  x  10%)  +  (1 / 4)              =  1.50  +  0.25 =  1.75

                                                                                       TOTAL =    7.6

18 hole: Stableford & Par/Bogey

The number of stableford points required to play to handicap is calculated for each set of tees and rounded to the nearest whole number. Ladies receive additional strokes equal to the difference in the number of points required to play to handicap.

Points required to play to handicap   =    36   -   [ Course Rating  -  Par ]

Playing H’cap  =  [ Course H’cap  X  H’cap Allowance ]  +  Difference in points to play to H’cap

9 hole: Stableford & Par/Bogey

No adjustment is required. It is accounted for in the calculation of 9 hole Course Handicaps.

Mixed Foursomes & Greensomes

In mixed Foursomes and Greensomes, where each team comprises a man and a woman, there is no need to make any adjustments as any adjustment would be equal for all pairs.

Which scorecard to use in Team Competitions

  • In Team stableford and Team par/bogey competitions where men and ladies play their own ball, players use the pars on the scorecard appropriate to their gender.

  • In Team stableford and Team par/bogey competitions where men and ladies use the same ball (e.g. foursomes & greensomes), players all use the same pars on the scorecard (the Women’s pars are recommended).

Returning of Scores

When entering scores of scores at the PSI screen or via HowDidiDo Mobile Score Input is required, make sure to select the course that was played (white, yellow or red tees).

All scorecards should be posted through the letterbox outside the office.
